Salsa at the Angel is one this month....on Thursday 20th May 2010 we will have been running for 1 year! Why not come and join us for fun and celebrations with cake and party games for all that attend!

As seen on TV.....
Not only was John's full interview broadcast on BBC during the Look North show at 6.30pm on Tuesday 4th May, but we were both featured with Arran, dancing in the background! Having all put our t-shirts on so the camera would catch the logos, they obviously had to work hard to cut out the advertising as much as possible, however there is one great shot of the logo, just at the end.....its a shame it was also a shot of my behind....(no wide angle jokes please!)
Unfortunately we are unable to get a copy of the interview to post for you, but I will keep trying.

APRIL NEWS
NEW CLASS!!!! NEW TEACHER!!!
After a few months of coaching and practice, Vicky Angove has taken on her first class under the brand of SalsaBailar. Thursday nights will not be the same in Washington as Vicky teaches the people of Washington how to salsa! Classes are held at Washington's womens education centre for Bridge, every Thursday 6-8pm. The first class went really well and everyone seemed to enjoy it!

BBC interview John Wood........on Tuesday 27th April, whilst dancing at Beyond Bar, for Salseduce - John was interviewed by the BBC. He was asked if he was prime minister, what would he spend the budget on. John answered 'small businesses' and would make cuts from defence.

Amazing feedback.....
In April we did a 60th birthday party for Sue in Northumberland, Vicky, Rachel and Fiona came to help out and we all had a fab and fun time. We received a lovely email from Laura (Sue's daughter) thanking us for the evening.
""Thank you very much for helping make last night a success. Mum and everyone else really enjoyed themselves. Salsa was something new for a lot of people at the party and I think the lessons were spot on, easy to follow and very enjoyable. It really helped to get people relaxed and mingling too. Get well soon! One of the original dancers at the Angel, Dave Harrison has been into hospital for an operation and we wanted to say get well soon.....we know of a few of you that have had illnesses and injuries in your families and wanted to wish you all a speedy recovery!

Classes are back on......starting Thursday 14th January.....get your new year salsa fix at the Angel. Beginners classes start at 7.15pm for 1 hour. Jeans and top are suitable clothing, as are comfortable shoes with heel (and leather sole if you have it). DJ Steve is playing all night so make sure you make arrangements to stay and dance with us until closing time!

CLASS CANCELLED.......Thursday 7th January is cancelled at the Angel View Inn, Gateshead due to the weather and my inability to drive in the snow, and for the fear of people skidding or getting stranded in their cars at the pub....hang on, rewind.....hmm anyway for the safety of all our dancing friends, we will see you all on Thursday 14th January all being well.....

Thank you! To all of you that turned up on Bonfire Night to Salsa at the Angel...it was a larger class than expected and I think you will agree that the addition of DJ Steve to our team has made the social dancing more atmospheric! Even if you don't want to do lessons, come down for 9.30pm to social dance. Steve will play as long as people are dancing, or until the venue closes! All for £4.00 on the door.

BREAKING NEWS......
DJ Steve, most popularly known from Tues nights at Bar Beyond has joined the Salsa Bailar team every Thursday night!
In response to feedback and requests for social dancing after the class, DJ Steve will ensure smooth salsa sounds to keep you dancing until late.
John & Vicky said "we are delighted to be working each week with Steve, we have worked together for almost 3 years through salsa on a Tuesday night through Salseduce and hope that everyone at Salsa at the Angel welcomes him on board!"

RECORD CLASS! Thursday 22nd October saw a record number of you joining us at Salsa at the Angel and we wanted to say welcome to you all. We were not in our usual room due to a wedding party, and wanted to thank everyone for your patience as it was rather packed!

The BBC have approached us to ask whether we would like to audition for a new dance show called Move it like Michael. As we both dedicate ourselves to teaching others rather than performing - we have said we will open this opportunity up to all our students.
